Dippin in and a bit of dippin out

The Safari had a meeting to attend in the out regions of the big smoke this morning. We had hoped that by getting there a bit early we'd have time to tick off Sand Martin and Chiffchaff, perhaps even a Little Ringed Plover or a Garganey, for the year but none were there.
Once back in the office we learned we'd missed an amazing passage of NINE Velvet Scoters and 60 Whooper Swans (woulda been a patch tick) . Talk about being in the wrong place at the right time.
After lunch we went out with the North Blackpool Pond Trail officer to investigate a couple of the ponds at the south end of the southern section.
Our first session of pond dipping of the season gave us a few Damselfly larvae

some Water Mites, black ones and a red one, a couple of very small water beetles of unknown species, and this Caddis Fly larva. with its case made out of strips of vegetation.
After dipping we took a slight diversion to check for any Bee Orchid rosettes - and we soon found one then another and another and another
Once we'd put the camera away we found two more a little apart from the others.
A tiny sedge was nearby, not sure what species.
Where to next? No early morning Patch 2 scoter-fest again tomorrow as we're in school first thing for World Water Day...btw it was World Forestry Day today - we were hoping to rite something tree-y but the only thing we got was a Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming on our way to the ponds.
In the meantime let us know what got netted in your outback.
