The Safari and Wifey took Frank to the vets but had to bring home back again as it was discovered he had a couple of little infections that need to be sorted out before he goes under he knife.
We were close to some of our friends so dropped in on them. We were having a cuppa in the garden when a Little Egret flew over us...not a bad garden tick. They also have Bullfinches and Marsh Tits visiting their feeders fairly frequently...although not today.
Back at Base Camp we got a text from AB telling us of a Black Tern at the nature reserve...as soon as the rush hour traffic had died down we were on our way hoping it would still be there.
The reserve is only two miles away but the journey took 25 minutes of worry before we could park up and set off at a tidy pace on foot.
Stopping at the gate to the first hide we had a scan but couldn't see it...oohh errr. We went down to the hide and met TS in there who said it was still around and favouring the area right in front of us. Sure enough we soon picked it up low over the Yellow Water Lilies but rarely flipping up above the reedbed for a decent view.
It did eventually give some splendid binocular views but was a little far for the camera - we gave it a go but the results are 'record' shots only. Still a nice bird and ample recompense for yesterday's disasterous dip.

Where to next? Back on the beach tomorrow and our eyes will be peeled for Bottle Nosed Dolphins as a pod of seven including a couple of calves has been seen off the South-side last Friday, not sure if that was from land, a boat or the rig.
