Snap seals seal success

The safari had a good Patch 1 visit this morning. Two Blackcaps were singing, the usual one and another but was it the one we used to hear in that part of the park earlier on in the spring or was it an ‘autumn’ – there we said it; sorry Warren! – mover? The Lesser Whitethroat was rattling like a gud un too and the pre-rattle warble was pretty loud this morning as well.
Out on Patch 2 we finally managed this poor digiscoped picture of our regular Grey Seal. It was bottling only a few feet behind the tiny breakers but across the huge expanse of beach so probably about 600 yards away. At least mr CP at work is convinced by it and accepts it as proof we do actually see stuff on our pre-work vigils.

Two close in shore but distant to the south Gannets fished using very shallow angled dives, whilst one straight out on the horizon just cruised through.

Out on Patch1 in the afternoon summer sun gave us 5 Speckled Woods, 6 Large Skippers, a Common Blue, a Large White and a Meadow Brown - bring on the butterflies!
Where to next? Got our operation in hossy next week so only got this weekend an a day or so to start catching Monika up again before an enforced break in proceedings! Still it’ll give me a chance to do some statistical analysis on this year’s sightings so far.
In the meantime let us know what you’ve been ‘bottling’ up in your outback.
